we have heard the joyful sound - "Jesus saves! Jesus saves!"
spread the tidings all around - "Jesus saves! Jesus saves!"
spread the news to every land, climb the steeps and cross the waves
onward! - tis our Lord's command; Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
waft it on the rolling tide: "Jesus saves! Jesus saves!"
tell to sinners far and wide: "Jesus saves! Jesus saves!"
sing, you islands of the sea; echo back, you ocean caves;
earth shall keep her jubilee: Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
sing above the battle strife: "Jesus saves! Jesus saves!"
by His death and endless life Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
shout it brightly through the gloom, when the heart for mercy craves;
sing in triumph o'er the tomb: "Jesus saves! Jesus saves!"
give the winds a mighty voice: Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
let the nations now rejoice - Jesus saves! Jesus saves!
shout salvation full and free; highest hills and deepest caves;
this our song of victory: "Jesus saves! Jesus saves!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) the gospel should drive us to be loud about it.
2) "earth shall keep her jubilee" - that's pretty incredible.
3) Jesus saves us "by His death and endless life" - which is a pretty amazing double-whammy.
4) the heart craves mercy, and the desire is fulfilled in the salvation bought for us by Christ.
5) we can "sing in triumph" over death - NO one else can do this.
6) "shout salvation full and free"
i have 5 papers, 6 tests, a bunch of housing stuff, homework, planning stuff for summer conference, and at least one party to plan before May 4.
on the other hand, i'm going home for easter! our entire immediate family will be in OUR house for the first time since last august!!!! can't complain about that, man.
a bunch of rambling thoughts, many of which relate to hymns and songs, theology and books, movies and tv, food and fashion, politics and the drama that is my life, but nothing really makes a consistent appearance except pictures.
