Jesus, What a Friend for Sinners!

Jesus, what a Friend for sinners! Jesus, Lover of my soul!
friends may fail me; foes assail me - He, my Savior, makes me whole
hallelujah, what a Savior! hallelujah, what a Friend!
saving, helping, keeping, loving - He is with me to the end

Jesus, what a Strength in weakness - let me hide myself in Him
tempted, tried, and sometimes failing, He, my Strength, my victory wins
hallelujah, what a Savior! hallelujah, what a Friend!
saving, helping, keeping, loving - He is with me to the end

Jesus, what a help in sorrow! while the billows o'er me roll
even when my heart is breaking, He, my Comfort, helps my soul
hallelujah, what a Savior! hallelujah, what a Friend!
saving, helping, keeping, loving - He is with me to the end

Jesus, i do now receive Him - more than all in Him i find
He hath granted me forgiveness; i am His and He is mine
hallelujah, what a Savior! hallelujah, what a Friend!
saving, helping, keeping, loving - He is with me to the end

i love this song. it has alot of stuff i always note in it: "i am His and He is mine" for example. but it makes alot of great fresh points that enrich our understanding of the Gospel.
1) how fun a list is this? "saving, helping, keeping, loving - He is with me till the end" i mean, at the risk of sounding trite, do saviors come more amazing than ours? could they? i think not.
2) the constancy of the Gospel despite the changes in me and my circumstances - "friends may fail me; foes assail me" and "tempted, tried, and sometimes failing" and "sorrow" and "weakness" and "even when my heart is breaking" - is downright astounding.
3) "He, my Strength, my victory wins" - which is so good, because all the crazy stuff in me (see #2) tends to suggest that i'm not going to pull it off, which any decent understanding of me would shout from the rooftops.
