Are You Washed in the Blood of the Lamb?
are your garments all spotless, are they white as the snow?
are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
is your soul all spotless, is it white as the snow?
are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
i am washed, yes i'm washed, i am washed in the blood
i'm all washed in the blood of the Lamb
i'm all clean, i'm all spotless, i'm all pure like the snow
i'm all washed in the blood of the Lamb
have you laid down your burdens, have you found peace and rest?
are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
i've down all my troubles and i've found peace and rest
i'm all washed in the blood of the Lamb
have you learned to love your neighbors of all colors, creeds, and kinds?
are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
i've learned to love my people of all colors, creeds, and kinds
i'm all washed in the blood of that Lamb
i am washed, yes i'm washed, i'm all washed in the blood
i'm all washed in the blood of the Lamb
i'm all clean, i'm all spotless, and i'm pure like the snow
i'm all washed in the blood of the Lamb

"what good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? can that faith save him?.... faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead." (james 2:14,17)
"religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction..." (james 1:27)
"and now, israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which i am commanding you today for your good?....circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stubborn. for the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe. He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing. love the sojourner, therefore, for you were sojourners in the land of egypt." (deut. 10:12-13, 16-19)
"faith shows herself by what she does." - christine dente, out of the grey
in other words, faith always grows hands and feet, and they should resemble "peace and rest" and learning "to love your neighbors of all colors, creeds, and kinds."

There Is a Fountain Filled with Blood
there is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Immanuel's veins
and sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains
lose all their guilty stains, lose all their guilty stains
and sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains
e'er since by faith i saw the stream Your flowing wound supplied
redeeming love has been my theme and shall be till i die
and shall be till i die, and shall be till i die
redeeming love has been my theme and shall be till i die
when this poor, lisping, stammering tongue lies silent in the grave
then in a nobler, sweeter song, i'll sing Thy power to save
i'll sing Thy power to save, i'll sing Thy power to save
then in a nobler, sweeter song, i'll sing Thy power to save
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
3 things:
1) redeeming love should be our theme, just like "Thy mercy, my God", right?
2) yes this is the song my blog is named from
3) the nobler, sweeter song comes from a nobler, sweeter understanding of the gospel that will come after death - but the song is still the same at heart: God's power to save us is incredible.
At the Lamb's High Feast We Sing
at the Lamb's high feast we sing praise to our victorious King
Who has washed us in the tide flowing from His pierced side
praise we Him, Whose love divine gives His sacred blood for wine
gives His body for the feast; Christ the Victim, Christ the Priest
where the paschal blood is poured, death's dread angel sheathes the sword
israel's hosts triumphant go through the wave that drowns the foe
praise we Christ, Whose blood was shed; paschal Victim, paschal Bread
with sincerity and love eat we manna from above
mighty Victim from the sky, hell's fierce powers beneath You lie
You have conquered in the fight; You have brought us life and light
Father, Who the crown shall give; Savior, by Whose death we live,
Spirit, guide through all our days, Three in One, Your Name we praise
this one may be the most earth-shattering of all these hymns. the language here is phenomenal - so biblically sound, and yet so riveting and radical!
1) ok, what the heck? "Christ the Victim, Christ the Priest" - can it get more out of control than that??? that is indeed "love divine" - for the God of the universe to feed us with Himself, not to mention to "wash us in the tide flowing from His pierced side." this really speaks to the idea that God was fully in control of the passion. He sure knew what He was doing.
2) it is the sacrifice of Christ that makes us alive!
3) i definitely didn't get the prophetic symbolism of manna till i heard this song....
4) definitely puts a gory spin on communion - which is ACCURATE. we christians are rather crazy about blood being spilled because in spilling His own blood, God demonstrated His own love for us.
5) the Triune God is all over the gospel - it's not just a Jesus-thing
6) 6 words for you: "Savior, by Whose death we live" - nothing left to say
a bunch of rambling thoughts, many of which relate to hymns and songs, theology and books, movies and tv, food and fashion, politics and the drama that is my life, but nothing really makes a consistent appearance except pictures.
