Yay a Hymn!

As you have noticed if you've been reading this blog for more than a year, this year I'm not blogging a hymn a day for Lent. Frankly this is due to two facts, the first being that I'm somewhat maxed out on hymns I know; the second being that I am crazy-busy these days.

That said, I thought I would post this hymn we sang this morning. It's so good to be reminded that the best is yet to come.

Draw Me Nearer
i am Thine, O Lord, i have heard Your voice,
and it told Your love to me
but i long to rise in the arms of faith
and be closer drawn to Thee

draw me nearer to the cross where Thou hast died
draw me nearer to Your precious, bleeding side

there are great depths of love that i cannot know
till i cross the narrow sea
there are heights of joy that i may not reach
til i rest in peace with Thee

draw me nearer to the cross where Thou hast died
draw me nearer to Your precious, bleeding side

consecrate me now to Your service, Lord,
by the power of grace divine
let my soul look up with a steadfast hope
and my will be lost in Thine

draw me nearer to the cross where Thou hast died
draw me nearer to Your precious, bleeding side

I love the lines "till I cross the narrow sea" and "my will be lost in Thine." I love the thought that this life with it's troubles is only a narrow sea with eternal shores and joy awaiting us on the other side. And to have my will lost in the will of God. I can't wait for that. That's my daily desire and struggle that will soon be put to rest and find its consummation. Good hymn :)
